There are certain onpage factors that can pass
you little SEO juice and optimizing your url
structure for better SEO is one of them. I have
already discussed in detail about how you can
alter your url structure in wordpress blogs for
better SEO, you can find the link in the related
posts section below, if you own a blog then you
can check out that post. What I am going to talk
about here is to pass on some instructions on
what factors that you need to focus on while
optimizing your url.
1. Try to use static urls over your site rather than
dynamic and script driven that keeps changing
over a period time, reason is simple when have
dynamic url in your website, the url that will be
indexed by the search engines may differ from
the present url that your actual page might hold.
That way you cannot effectively build links back
to your site and also there is chance that search
bots may find that your url is keep changing and
they might well in fact not index your url at all.
2. You need to make sure that you are keeping
your url precise and gives you an idea what
information that the url may hold. Don’t use
keywords in the url for a page that don’t really
relate to the keywords used in the url. This way
there is chance that your site bounce rate may go
up in future and may lead to low ranking pages.
3. Also you need to use keywords, but as
mentioned before use your keywords rightly
instead of spamming them on your url, when
you use right keywords then they have a little
influence over your rankings.
4. Use hypens in the url to separate the terms
rather than any other separators or no separators
at all, next best to hypens is underscore.
5. Try to keep your url structure as simple as
possible, you can avoid the usage of words like
“of, and, if etc.. in your urls and make it look
more cleaner for search engines and also users.

8 Ways to Submit Your Site to Yahoo

9:43 AM 1 Comment
Yahoo is both a search engine and a directory. By
submitting your site to Yahoo's human-edited
directory, you may have a better chance of being
found by purely spider-driven engines (such as
Google). It's best to figure out exactly where your
site or content may fit in the Yahoo structure
before submitting willy-nilly to anything that has
the word "submit" in it. Expect a "reasonable
delay" when using any of these site submission
options.
There are eight (!) submission options with
Yahoo; I'm going to briefly go over them one by
one:
Yahoo Free Site Submission
The Yahoo Site Submit option is easy and free. All
you have to do is enter the URL of the site you'd
like to submit to be included in the Yahoo Search
index. Must have a free Yahoo ID in order to do
this (registration required).
Yahoo Mobile Site Submission
You can submit your xHTML, WML or cHTML
mobile site for inclusion in Yahoo'smobile search
index. Again, just submit your site's URL.
Yahoo Media Content Submission
If you have audio, video, or visual content, you
cansubmit your content to Yahoo Search via
your media RSS feed. Not as complicated as it
might sound.
Yahoo Search Submit
Yahoo's Search Submit Express option is not free,
but you do get guaranteed inclusion within the
Yahoo search index. Pricing of this option varies.
Make sure to read theYahoo Site Submit
guidelines thoroughly before choosing this
option; you want to make sure it's the best option
for your site since it does cost.
Keep reading for the rest of the Yahoo site submit
options on page two of this article titled8 Ways
to Submit Your Site to Yahoo.

Search Engine Optimization and the Title Tag

9:40 AM 3 Comments
The title tag is an extremely important factor in
search engine optimization. Most search engines
and search directories place a high level of
importance on the title tag when determining
what sites to index, since the title tag is what
usually shows up for the title of your listing in
search results. In addition, the title tag shows up
in the top blue part of the browser window, and
if users bookmark your site, the title is what
usually shows up in the bookmarks.
Title Tags - What They Look Like
The title tag is going to look something like this:
Title Tags - Where They Are Found
Title tags are found within the and head> tags within the HTML or XML coding that
makes up a website.
Title Tags - How Long
Different search engines have different criteria for
how long your title tag should be, but it's
generally acceptable for your title tag to be in the
range of 60 to 115 characters (that's including
spaces).
Title Tags - Tips to Remember
Search Engine Optimization and the Title <br />Tag

Search Engine Optimization and the Title <br />Tag

Make sure to personalize each title tag for each
page of your site. Every page should have its
own unique title tag that references what the page
is actually about.
Place your most optimized keyword phrases at
the beginning of the title tag;this is just in case a
search engine cuts your title tag off right when it
starts getting good.
Make your title relevant and appropriate to what
your site's focus is, and stay away from sales
language, i.e., "Best Computers On Earth!".
Include one or two relevant keyword phrases,
but do not just list only keywords (this could be
viewed as spamming). Instead, make it a
readable title that will entice readers to click
through.
Go local. If you are a dog breeder in Tennessee
and want to be found, then by all means, put
your geographical location in your title tag. Just
make sure that you don't put two locations right
next to each other, as in "Breeders in Nashville-
Nashville Breeders" since search engines possibly
will see this as spamming.

Web Site Optimization Mistakes

9:34 AM 4 Comments
Web site optimization is the practice of making
your site search-friendly both to search engines
and searchers. There are five common mistakes
that people tend to make when beginning to
optimize their sites for search engines.
1. Web Site Optimization Mistake #1: Lack
of Targeted Keywords and Phrases
A lack of targeted keywords and phrases can
make or break your site. When a searcher goes
to a search engine or directory and types in a
keyword or keyword phrase that you would like
to be found for - but you don't have these
particular keywords and phrases on your site -
then that searcher will most likely not be able to
find you.
2. Web Site Optimization Mistake #2: Poorly
Written Content
Site content is the absolute number one draw for
both search engine spiders and search engine/
directory users. If your content is badly written,
is never updated, or is not relevant to what you
want to be found for, then your site is neither
search engine friendly or user-friendly. In
addition, your content absolutely must have
targeted keywords and phrases (see mistake
number 1). Well-written content is what search
engine spiders feed on, and content is the key to
high rankings.
3. Web Site Optimization Mistake #3: Black
Hat SEO Techniques
Black Hat web site optimization includes
techniques that are unethical and frowned upon
by search engine spiders. These techniques
include keyword stuffing, doorway pages,
invisible text, and more. These practices actually
do raise your site ranking. However, search
engine spiders have become very aware of Black
Hat seo techniques and can spot them pretty
easily (and ban your site). Don't go for the quick
fix; learn how to optimize your site for the long
haul.
4. Web Site Optimization Mistake #4: Using
Meta Tags Improperly or Not At All
Meta tags include title tags, keyword tags, and
description tags. While not the absolute most
important component in Web site optimization
(that spot is reserved for keywords and content),
they do have an important part to play. Make
sure to include all these tags in every page of
your site, and target them for each individual
page.
5. Web Site Optimization Mistake #5: A
Badly Designed Site
Ineffective site design includes lack of clear
navigation, poorly designed frames, and
large,load-intensive graphics. Search engine
spiders can actually be blocked from crawling
sites that are not well-designed, so it's a major
part of Web site optimization; plus, if users can't
find what they want on your site quickly, they'll
find another site.

Creating spider friendly site

11:16 AM 17 Comments
1. Ensure that you do not have any HTML errors on
your page, especially your indexpage. HTML
errors, even minor one, can prevent the spiders
from spidering your wholesite. Even though your
page displays great you may still have errors.
Use anHTMLvalidation tool to check your
important pages.
2. Include all your pages on a text based sitemap so
that your pages can be easilyfound by the search
engine robots.
3. Avoid very big pages. Generally, the pages
should not exceed 150kb.
4. Move Javascript code to a separate file, or to the
end of the HTML document afteryour closing
BODY or HTML tag.
If you move the JavaScript code to a separate file
then add the following in the heading:

-

The separate JavaScript file reduces your HTML
file size, and therefore your downloadtime. It
allows you to reuse the code on future web
pages/sites.

Bad seo techniques

11:12 AM 14 Comments
Avoid using cheap tricks to get search rankings. If
you see anothersite ranking high using one of
these tricks do not assume that they will be stillbe
ranking high next month. Over the years, the
search engines have improved theirskills at
identifying attempts to spam their listings. The
engines will continueto improve their algorithms
in the future.
1. Do not use a font color that is the same or very
close to your background color.
2. Do not use too much font size one (1) text as the
default text size as many search engines consider
tiny text to be spam.
3. Do not add a bunch of meaningless keywords to
your page. It may help you rank high for a while
but but it not worth the risk of being penalized by
the search engines. The integrity of your site
could also suffer if you have unusual text on your
site.
4. Avoid participate in obvious link farms or link
exchange programs. The search engines often
refer to these as bad neighborhoods and will
penalize or ban your site for linking to them. One
definition for link farm would be: a site whose
only purpose is to artificially inflate link
popularity by exchanging links. Don't pay for links
unless you know how they will provide them.
5. Avoid using deceitful re-direct techniques. The
integrity of your site will sufferif your users
expect one thing and find something else.
6. Google has a page to report spam. We are not
sure how diligent Google is at investigating these
reports, but the option is there if one of your
competitors is gaining an upper hand through
dirty SEO techniques.

Seo for yahoo

11:56 AM 110 Comments
This article is part two of a four part series on
optimizing your website for the the three major
search engines. Part one, titled“SEO For MSN”
covered optimizing your website to rank highly
on MSN. In this article we will cover optimizing
your website for Yahoo!
Yahoo! is the second biggest of the three major
engines and includes an enormous network of
websites. The algorithm is based on that of
Inktomi which Yahoo! purchased back in 2002 as
part of their plan to stop serving Google results to
search queries. The algorithm itself can pose a
problem for some SEO’s as we optimize client
website to rank highly on multiple search engines
due to the way that it deffers from Google and
MSN. That said, any issue can be addressed
provided that the right attention is given to the
right details.
The Factors
To optimize and rank highly on Yahoo!, as with
any of the major engines, specific areas need to
be addressed. On Yahoo! the major areas are as
follows:
* Keyword density
* Site structure
* Backlinks
* Aging
Keyword Density
As noted in the article on MSN, it would be
unwise for me to specify a keyword density for
you to target on your website. There are two
reasons for this. First, if there is a delay between
the writing of this article and when you read it
specific numbers could well send you off in the
wrong direction. Second, you will need to
analyze your specific competitors to determine
what the best density is in your area and for your
type of website. Optimal keyword densities are
no longer a one-size-fits-all calculation. Your
industry and site-type will affect the optimal
densities and thus, a complete analysis using a
tool such as Total Optimizer Pro will be
necessary.
Additionally, optimal keyword densities change
on a regular basis and so you will need to
periodically reanalyze your densities and compare
them with others in the top 10 to insure that your
densities remain within the optimal levels. When
using Total Optimizer Pro for the onsite analysis
we generally aim our densities for the upper end
of the top 10 results but not aiming to be the top.
Generally you will see a range that appears much
like a bell curve with a couple sites in the very low
range (0.5 to 1.0%) and a couple site in the very
high range (5.0 to 8.0%). The rest will generally
fall in the middle. Ignore those in the very low
and very high range and target towards the
upper end though not the highest of the
remaining sites and you will be on target.
Site Structure
On no other engine is site structure more
important than on Yahoo! While having a good
site structure is important for a vaiety of reasons,
it was on Yahoo! that Beanstalk noted the most
significant gains when we brought our
homepage and key internals into compliance with
W3C standards (the rest of the site will be
brought into compliance as part of our complete
redesign scheduled for launch on April 24th).
While slight gains were noticeable on both Google
and MSN they were so minor that they may well
have just been part of the ebb-and-flow of the
results. On Yahoo! however we noted a three
page jump the day the changes were picked up.
No other changes to the site were performed
during this time.
The site structure is important for two key
reasons. First, the site structure determines the
order in which your page content gets seen by
the search engines and thus, whch content will
be given the highest priority. Content that occurs
higher up in the code of your page (not
necessarily in your browser) is given a higher
weight than content lower down in the code.
Second, a properly structured site will be lower in
code through the use of CSS, reduced or
eliminated table use, etc. The reduction in code
will push the content higher up the page as far as
a search engine is concerned and thus, it will be
given more weight.
Backlinks
Like the other two major engines, having a solid
backlink count from relevant sites using good
anchor text practices is a major factor on Yahoo!
for any reasonably competitive phrase. When it
comes to calculating backlinks Yahoo! is far more
similar to Google than MSN. Aspects of backlink
counts that must be taken into consideration
when optimizing your website for Yahoo!:
* Quality of site – like Google has attempted to do
in the past with PageRank and is learning to do
with TrustRank, sheer numbers aren’t what will
get you high rankings on Yahoo!, the quality of
those links is more important. We must
remember than PageRank is a Google calculation,
not Yahoo! and so it alone cannot determine the
value of a link when we are optimizing for this
engine. It can be used as a quasi-benchmark
however when determining if a link is a quality
link on Yahoo! we are better off to considered
whether it is from a site that is ranking well on
Yahoo! for the same or related phrases, does it
come from a site that it related to ours, does the
site link to a site that is ranking well on Yahoo! and
does the link come from a trusted domain. For
these purposes a trusted domain can be
considered any domain that is over 3 years old,
has a solid number of backlinks coming from a
wide variety of sites and which at least a solid
number of are non-reciprocal links.
* Position of link – like all the major engines, the
position of your link on the page is important. A
link at or near the bottom of the page is less
valuable than a link nearer to the top. Also, if your
link is on a page with other links, the effect that
link will have on your rankings decreases
respective to the number of links on the linking
page.
* Anchor text – the text used to link to your site
will help reinforce that the keywords in that
anchor text are associated with your site/page.
Also, if that anchor text in in the midst of the
content it will hold greater weight than if that
anchor text is in a directory-style format above a
description (i.e. link a standard links page)
* Non-reciprocal links – reciprocal links are
certainly still valuable on Yahoo! however it is
important to supplement these links with non-
reciprocal links in the form of directory listings
and other one-way links.
Aging
The bane of new websites is the aging delay.
Many focus on Google’s “sandbox” when they
think of aging delays however Yahoo! employs
one as well, though it is lighter and lasts a shorter
duration of time. New sites and links are not
given the same weight as sites and links that have
been around for a while. The aging delay on sites
has been extended over the past couple years
however it isn’t as severe as that imposed by
Google. New sites can expect to find it extremely
difficult to rank for competitive phrase inside of 6
months even if everything else is in place. To add
to the difficulty is a delay on the value of links.
When a new site launches it obviosly has no
links. These links are subjesct to a delay that
appears to be somewhere between 3 to 4
months before they hold their full weight.
The combination of these delays can make it very
difficult for new sites to rank for competitive
phrases inside of 8 to 12 months however
because the restrictions are lighter than those
imposed by Google one can expect to see
rankings for secondary, tertiary and completely
unexpected phrases far faster on Yahoo!
Conclusion
If is important to note that a very important area
that needs to be considered is coming in part four
of this series. Simply optimizing your website for
Yahoo! will likely not get you the traffic you’re
hoping for. Part three will cover optimizing your
website for Google and part four will be titled
“SEO For The Big Three: Tieing It Together” and
will outline how to tie all the optimization tactics
together into a concise strategy that will result in
top rankings on all three major engines.

7 steps seo tactiks

11:49 AM 6 Comments
If you’re like most online webmasters, then you
have probably read one article after the other
about search engine optimization. Most of them
rehash the same old information and you end up
wading through tons of fluff. However, this isn’t
one of those articles. Listed below are 7 advanced
SEO tips that you won’t find on every digital
corner.
1. Syndicating Articles that Link to Your
Sitemap
As you probably know, syndicating articles is one
of the best methods for obtaining one-way
backlinks.
They are also valuable pieces of search engine
bait because search engine crawlers are frequent
visitors to many high-profile article directories. If
you want to get the spiders quickly crawling your
site, simply submit an informative article to a site
like EzineArticles, GoArticles, or ArticleCity.
However, there’s another article marketing
strategy that isn’t mentioned much in marketing
circles. This tactic can get the crawlers searching
deeper into your site and indexing more of your
pages. Simply link to your sitemap within the
resource box. This will send the spiders straight
to a content buffet where they can quickly slurp
up all of your pages.
2. Translating Your Website Into Other
Languages
Are you marketing in just one language? If so,
you are missing out on 64.8% of your marketing
potential. This is because 64.8% of the world is
surfing the internet in a language other than
English. By becoming a multilingual marketer,
you immediately open up a stream of new
markets. Google alone crawls web pages in 35
different languages.
One of the best ways to attract worldwide traffíc
is to translate your site and register it with both
English and foreign-language search engines and
directories. If you are a seasoned SEO, you’ll be
happy to hear that the competition in foreign
search engines is much less than in those of the
United States.
In addition, online foreign language markets are
currently growing at a much faster rate than
English speaking markets.
You have the opportuníty to tap into this market
while it’s in an exponential growth phase.
3. ROR Sitemaps
As you probably know, sitemaps are important
for making sure your site can be completely
spidered and indexed by the search engines.
Unfortunately, many of these sitemaps are
specific to one search engine or another. For this
reason, there have been a number of Google and
Yahoo site map generators produced in recent
years.
However, there is an alternative that is even more
exciting. These are ROR sitemaps and they are
readable by all search engines, not just by Google
or Yahoo.
ROR is an exciting new sitemap tool that uses
XML feeds to describe your website. These
sitemaps are structured feeds that enable search
engines to complement text search with
structured information to better interpret the
meaning of your site. With a ROR sitemap,
search engines can better understand your
products, services, images, newsletters, articles,
podcasts, and anything else that you want to
describe.
For example, if you are selling products, a ROR
file enables you to document your product
names, descriptions, prices, images, availability,
affilíate programs, and any other
relevant information. Search engine crawlers like
the Googlebot have an enormous job to do. It’s
time we start helping them to better understand
our content.
4. Keyword Phrases that Convert
Selecting the right keyword phrases is the single
most important aspect of any SEO campaign.
Unfortunately, many webmasters target the
wrong keywords. Too many of us target very
general keywords like“real estate” or “internet
marketing”. Although these terms get lots of
visitors, it is unlikely that you will be able to rank
highly for them. Then, even if you do, this type
of traffíc produces very low conversion rates
because it does not target prospects.
You will be much more successful, if you target
keyword phrases that are 3-4 words long. These
terms are much less competitive and have been
proven to convert much better than keywords
that are 1 to 2 words long.
Who do you think is more likely to buy; someone
who goes to Google and searches for“ipod” or
someone who searches for “4gb black ipod
nano”? Obviously, the person who searches for a
more specific phrase is much closer to making a
buying decision.
5. GoogSpy
Would you like to get an in-depth view of how
your competitors run their business? Well, you
can do exactly that with an online service known
as GoogSpy. GoogSpy is a free research tool that
will tell you what keywords your competitors are
bidding on.
This tool tracks over 500,000 keywords every
day from Google and then loads this goldmine of
information into the GoogSpy.com database.
Using this tool, you can browse by company or
by search term.
This tool is extremely powerful. Unfortunately,
many people take it for granted. This service
basically hands you a business strategy on a
silver platter. Maybe we should just keep this one
to ourselves and enjoy the benefits of being one
step ahead of our competition.
For example, let’s say you wanted to do some in-
depth research on Overstock.com, one of the
largest companies online. You would simply go
to googspy.com and type in overstock.com. You
will then be shown thousands of words that this
company bids on. These keywords are proven
profít generators. Research like this would
normally cost thousands of dollars, but they are
providing it free of charge.
If you want to find keywords with high
conversion rates, simply type in words such as
buy and purchase. You will be shown keyword
phrases that are bid on that include the words
buy or purchase. These are very lucrative
keyword phrases because the person who types
in“buy sony playstation 2″ knows exactly what
they want. They’re not just looking around, they
are in buying mode. These are the type of
keywords you want to bid on. Using GoogSpy,
you can uncover these hidden gems in seconds.
Other high-converting keyword phrases include
brand names and product names. Type in the
keyword“camera” and you will find thousands of
different brands and product names for cameras.
These keywords are some of the best keywords
because of their high conversion rate.
6. Internal Links Within Content
The navigation of your site is a crucial element of
your search engine optimization campaign. Each
link within your navigational structure should
correlate with a keyphrase that you are trying to
rank for.
However, you can also include internal links
within your content. For example, let’s say you
have written an article about online marketing.
Within the article are a number of keyword
phrases. Some of these phrases include“link
popularity” and “web site traffíc”. If you have
other articles within your site that pertain to these
topics, then you should definitely link those
keyword phrases to those articles. By doing this,
you can increase the link popularity of other
pages within the same site.
There are very few sites that take advantage of
this optimization technique. By doing this, you
enable the search engines to find and index much
more of your site. These internal links also
contribute to a higher ranking because of the
anchor text that is used.
Many people only think of inbound links from
outside websites when trying to raise their link
popularity. However, the internal link structure is
also a major ranking factor.
7. Using Your Log Files for SEO
Your server logs reveal very important
information about your site. If you learn to use
them properly, they can quickly help to maximize
your site’s traffíc and conversion rates.
One of the most valuable pieces of information
found in your log files are search phrases. The
log files will tell you exactly which keywords
people are using to find your website.
Once you have optimized a page, the log files will
tell you how people are finding that page and
what keywords they are searching for to get
there. If you find that people are using keywords
that you hadn’t thought of to get to a certain
page, it would probably be in your best interest
to further optimize that page for those keywords.
You might also want to create a new page
optimized for that particular term. This is
especially true if a new page would enable you to
serve better information on the phrase being
searched for.
In addition, by looking at how your site is found
organically, you can determine whether the same
keyword phrases belong in your paid search
campaigns. Only choose the ones that are highly
relevant. You will find that these keyword phrases
have the best conversion rate.

Keyword research is critical to the SEO process.
Without keyword research all your efforts to
optimize your site to rank high in the major
search engines may be directed to the wrong
terms and phrases. This will result in rankings for
words that no one searches on.
The process of keyword research involves
several steps.
The first thing you are going to want to do for
keyword research is brainstorm the word or
words potential customers might use to find the
site you are planning to build. This list will include
both individual words and 2 to 4 word phrases.
You will need enough keywords and keyword
phrases to cover all the services or product areas
you are going to promote on the site.
If you are having trouble coming up with enough
keywords or keyword phrases use past
customers, your friends, colleagues, or even
your competitors. You can check the“meta
keywords” used by your competitors. Most
browsers will let you do this by right clicking on
the page and choosing“view page source”.
meta_keywords
Now the work begins. You need to begin the
process of qualifying your keyword list.
By checking your proposed keywords with a
keyword research tool, you can easily learn how
many users are conducting searches for that
particular term every day, how many of those
searches actually converted, and other important
analytical information. You may also discover
words that are different than your keywords that
searchers are using instead of yours or even
synonyms you weren’t even aware of.
There are plenty of good tools out there to help
you determine how valuable your keywords are
to your site. Here’s a few of my favorites.
SEO Keyword Research Tool A free research tool
on SEO Portland and powered by Arron Wall.
This is a good tool to begin with.
Wordtracker: Wordtracker is a subscription tool
that lets you look up popular keyword phrases to
determine their activity and popularity among
competitors. Their top 1000 report lists the most
frequently searched for terms, while their
Competition Search option provides valuable
information to determine the competitiveness of
each phrase. They also have a free trial version
but be prepaired to spend some time using it.
Overture Keyword Selector Tool: Overture now
Yahoo!’s Keyword Selector tools shows you how
many searches have been conducted over the
last month for a particular phrase and lists
alternative search terms you may have forgotten
about. The only problem with Yahoo!/Overture is
that singular and plural word forms are
considered one phrase. For example,“widgets”
and “widget” would appear as the same word
“widget”.
Google AdWords Keyword Tool: Google’s
keyword Pay-Per-Click tool doesn’t provide actual
search numbers for keywords. Instead, it
displays a graph like, colored bar, giving users an
approximation.
Keyword Discovery tool: This is a fee-based tool
where users can see how many users search for
it daily, identify common spellings and
misspellings, and determine the market share
value for a given search word or phrase.
Google Suggest: Google Suggest is a great way to
find synonyms and related word suggestions
that may be helpful to expand your original list.
Thesaurus.com: A good way to discover
synonyms you may not have remembered.
NicheBot is the best keyword tool I have been
able to find it includes results from Wordtracker,
Google, Keyword Discovery, and Yahoo!/
Overture. This tool saves me alot of time and
effort. Their tagline is,“Search The Major
Keyword Services All in One Place to Easily Locate
the Highest Traffic/Lowest Competition Keywords
Like a Laser-Guided Missile!”. They even have a 2
week test drive for a buck. NicheBOT Tour Page
for $1 Trial Offer.
Remember that you’re not only checking to see if
enough people are searching for a particular
word or phrase, you’re also trying to determine
how many of your competitors are using that
keyword or phrase on their sites.

How search engine marketing can boost your business

SEM or Search engine marketing is one of the
methods adopted in Internet marketing that helps
websites to increase hits by visitors and thereby
increasing the chances to sell the offered
products. Search engine optimization (SEO), Paid
Placement, Contextual Advertising and Paid
Inclusion are the techniques used for the
purpose.
Search Engine Marketing strategies are necessarily
aimed at bringing the business more visitors,
more consumers and more buyers by
generating leads.
The internet is the fastest growing medium for
advertising. The brand recognition can be
increased manifold by an appropriate use of the
strategic internet tools available.
A good understanding of the business being
promoted is all needed to formulate strategies for
the internet marketing. Choice of proper key
words that needed to be picked up the search
engines like, Google, Yahoo or Microsoft Live
form the foremost part of making a strategy. The
more easy and popular keywords it be, the easier
it will be to find the website by the search
engines. And a position in the front page of the
search engines would increase the assurance of a
visitor much more than that of in the next pages.
Search engine marketing boosts the Business by
not only short term sales, but a good strategy
also aim at expanding the market reach and
creating a customer base. The rise in number of
business outlets also gives rise to the B2B
opportunity. New buyers, consumers and
information are logging in Internet every second.
It is up to the businesses that how effectively they
can use this information to their benefit. Being
found in the front page of the search engine is the
key to succeed in this marketing strategy
Online advertising as in Pay per click (PPC) or in
Price per thousand Impressions (PPM) play a
very significant role in increasing sales. The
advertisement either pops up or positioned in a
fixed place when a prospective buyer enters the
keywords. By directing to proper pages a visitor
can easily be converted to a sale as the
prospective customer does get an idea of the
product being offered before he decides to click
on the link.
Internet marketing expertise coupled with SEO
techniques can result in obtaining the highest
return on investment.

Article Writing - The New SEO Master Tool - Part 1

11:33 AM 5 Comments
Since search engines were invented, there has
been a constant head to head between the search
engine algorithm writers and webmasters. Every
time the algorithms changed the webmasters
tried to outwit them. The internet is full if
conflicting SEO advice on how to achieve top
rankings. This article hopes to clear up some of
the confusion.
In the beginning it was sufficient to have an
adequate amount of keywords on your website
in order to rank highly in the search engines. This
led to keyword spamming, a practice which still
continues today amongst inexperienced
webmasters.
Then along came Google and the goal posts
shifted. Google put more emphasis on webpage
linking, Their thought was simple - if one website
had a link to another website, then it was as if the
first website was placing a vote of confidence for
the second website's content and therefore the
second website must be useful and relevant to
the readers of the first website. Thus the Google
Page Rank was invented.
Soon the webmasters and internet marketers got
to work. This saw the emergence of link forms
and reciprocal linking sites. Internet marketers
declared that the more links that appeared on
your site, the higher it would rank in Google.
Suddenly link pages from websites started to run
into multiple pages as the race was on to
exchange links with whoever would agree. Some
sites started to have thousands of links point to
their sites and began rising in the search engine
rankings.
Of course the game of cat and mouse with
Google continued as the search engine giant once
again changed its algorithms.
It is now widely accepted that previous linking
strategies are failing because of what Google now
expects from links.
RELEVANCY
Google expects links on a site to be relevant to the
readers of the original site.
ONE WAY LINKS
Google gives a much higher priority to one-way
links without a reciprocal link in return.
ANCHOR TEXT
It is better for the anchor text (the actual text that
contains the link) to be keyword relevant to the
content and also to vary as numerous instances
of the same anchor text without variance can be
interpreted as keyword spamming.
The importance placed on the above factors has
all but eliminated the effectiveness of previous
linking strategies. Most links on link page
directories were exchanged with any site who
would reciprocate. Therefore most of these sites
were not relevant to the original site.
The reciprocal linking strategy also negates the
one-way linking preferred by Google. Most link
directories contain the same anchor text in all
links, as this anchor text was advertised on the
"link to us" page.
Therefore Google now looks upon these
reciprocal link directories as having no value.
They do not distribute page rank and therefore do
not help the ranking of your website.
That is why I now describe article writing as the
new SEO Master Tool - please see Part II of this
article for the reasoning.

5 Ways to Improve Your International SEO Strategy

11:12 AM 5 Comments
Liz Elting is co-founder and co-CEO of
TransPerfect, the world’s largest privately held
provider of language and business services.
Web users in the Middle East, Asia, the Americas
and Europe have embracedFacebook, Twitter
and other social platforms as vehicles for
communication, commerce, and revolution. If
North American-based businesses are to reach
this rapidly expanding, increasingly sophisticated
Internet audience, they must get smarter about
international search engine optimization (ISEO).
Just like domestic SEO, international SEO aims to
boost the likelihood that a particular website will
rise to the top of search results, thereby enabling
increased conversion rates. The challenge
internationally is selecting the right SEO strategies
for an enormous number of locales, cultural
norms and languages. Here are some key points
to consider when tackling ISEO.
1. Humans Beat Machine Translation
Even with adequate time for review and planning,
machines can make small errors in localization
that have significant consequences. The pressure
to get it right via social media is exponentially
greater, since time is short and engagement
expectations are high. Brands need human
experts who can quickly identify faults in
automated translations and repair them before
damage occurs in important markets. This is also
true for accompanying imagery, which can
convey unintended messages if not properly
vetted.
2. Learn Vernacular and Optimize Keywords
Accordingly
Whether a user seeks out information via a
regional search engine or through Facebook
pages or Twitter hashtags, the company looking
for that prospect must anticipate the phrases he
or she will employ. For example, a young person
in one part of the world may search for shoes
using a slang term, such as, “tennis shoes,”
“sneakers” or “kicks.”
No two search engines use the exact same
algorithm to produce organic results. The
techniques required to optimize for Chinese
search engineBaidu, for example, may be vastly
different from those needed to optimize for
Google. Businesses that want to reach targeted
users need expertise not only in language, but
also in culture and technology. This is one reason
why enterprises must adopt an integrated
approach to ISEO that determines the right
wording and creates consistent, relevant
messages in ads, landing pages, social media
posts and search engine marketing.
3. Make Every Character Count
Improving the visibility of a website abroad —
which demands knowledge of regional cultures,
dominant local search engines and top keywords
—starts with translation. Effective localization
requires more than plugging words into a bot
that spits out literal interpretations. This is
certainly true for global websites, but the
importance of connotation intensifies as
communication gets more compact. Twitter’s
strict length parameters, for example, make every
character choice a critical one, particularly when
you consider that English text can expand in
character count when translated into other
languages. Translating for this kind of platform
requires not only timesaving software solutions,
but seasoned human translators, as well.
Multi-language tweets can be a valuable tool in
numerous communities around the world, but
140 characters in English do not neatly translate
into 140 characters in Arabic, for example. To
communicate convincingly with multilingual
audiences via social networks, companies need
more human involvement. Engagement is key.
4. Register a Local Domain and Apply ISEO
Global search marketing requires local domain
and IP registration, as well as meaningful and
fresh content that is keyword-specific. It
demands descriptive tagging, rich media, social
media distribution and internal and external links.
These elements must take into account the search
habits of target audiences and the algorithms of
the search engines they are most likely to use.
There is little value in going live with a website
that is not optimized with these needs in mind.
Only when ISEO and design are done in
conjunction can a business be certain that
customers will find it online. This principle applies
to social media as well.
5. Get to Know Your Audience
Internet World Stats show that 86% of web users
live outside North America. Many of them speak
languages other than English, and capturing their
business depends upon quality website
translation, localization, and smarter ISEO.
Increasingly, that business opportunity also
hinges on extending multilingual campaigns to
social media platforms, such as Facebook and
Twitter.
To break into promising regions in the Americas,
the Middle East, Europe and Asia, enterprises are
applying these principles to all of their electronic
communication points with customers, and
therefore maximizing their prospects for success.
Know your audience’s lingo, its concerns and its
preferred platforms so it can quickly and easily
find and do business with you. Use social media
to show that your company took the time and
effort to communicate with global customers in a
meaningful and authentic manner.

Seo

11:09 AM 3 Comments
Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process
of improving the visibility of a website or a web
page in search engines via the "natural" or un-
paid ("organic" or "algorithmic") search results.
Other forms of search engine marketing (SEM)
target paid listings. In general, the earlier (or
higher on the page), and more frequently a site
appears in the search results list, the more
visitors it will receive from the search engine's
users. SEO may target different kinds of search,
including image search, local search, video
search, academic search, news search and
industry-specific vertical search engines. This
gives a website web presence.
As an Internet marketing strategy, SEO considers
how search engines work, what people search
for, the actual search terms typed into search
engines and which search engines are preferred
by their targeted audience. Optimizing a website
may involve editing its content and HTML and
associated coding to both increase its relevance to
specific keywords and...

4 Tips for Writing SEO-Friendly Blog Posts

11:07 AM Add Comment
In addition to writing for their human readers,
web writers and bloggers have to consider the
digital web crawlers employed by search engines
likeGoogle. Your business can’t skip the task.
Since most would-be readers use search engines
to find blog posts, you need to make sure that
Google ranks your site highly when those readers
search for terms related to your business and the
content you’re writing.
You could spend thousands of dollars to have a
search marketing firm optimize your business’s
blog for search engines, but chances are that you
can learn a lot of the fundamentals yourself,
saving yourself a lot of money as long as you
have the interest and the time. Here’s a basic
primer on Search Engine Optimization (SEO) for
your company’s blog.
1. Always Include Search Terms in Your
Post’s Title
When Google reads a website to index it, it reads
the code directly, not the snazzy presentation that
humans see. The way most blogging platforms
are built, the headline or title of your blog post is
among the first things Google sees, and Google
generally assumes the words that appear earliest
are the most important. That’s why the title is the
most important part of your blog post when it
comes to SEO.
Think about who you want to reach with this
blog post, and what that person might be
searching for when looking for your business’s
goods or services, then include critical words
from that hypothetical search in the title. The
most important terms should appear as quickly
as you can reasonably fit them in. Just be careful
not to make the title unreadable or awkward to
human readers— that SEO effort will have been
for naught if the reader is immediately turned off
by the content once he or she finds it.
Here’s a pro tip: You’re not likely to win strong
ranking for more than one or two search terms
at once, so minimalism is a virtue here. Don’t get
over-ambitious. Focus on one potential search
term, then if you want to rank for a second term,
write a separate and unique post specifically with
it in mind.
2. Link Important Words to Earlier Blog
Posts
Search engines generally assume that a blog post
that has been linked to has more authority than
one that has not. They also consider exactly what
word or phrase linked to the post; a blog post
about theiPhone is going to be more likely to
show up in Google searches on the subject if
another page links the word“iPhone” to the post.
You’ll get the most value from external links from
sites that Google or other search engines already
consider to be an authority of the subject (if the
top blog about iPhones links the word to your
post, you’ll get a huge boost), but all incoming
links will still pass rank to your page, even those
from elsewhere on your site.
So be sure and link important keywords to other
pages or previous posts on your blog to gain
some credibility and search rank. It will make a
big difference. Just don’t overdo it; not only do
human readers hate reading blogs so filled with
links that they might accidentally click on
something, Google may penalize you if you go
overboard, too.
3. Hit the Tagging Sweet Spot
Most blogging platforms let you apply tags to
your posts. Tags help organize your blog so both
humans and search engines can find what they’re
looking for. They’re terms like “consulting,” “local”
or “technology” that reflect the topics and content
of the post.
Google tries to recognize tags and use them to
prioritize your site in its search ranking for those
terms. The tags are usually links to other pages
on your blog (usually a backlog of other posts
with the same tag), and like we said earlier, linking
search terms to other pages on your site helps
too.
So by all means, add pertinent tags to your blog
post, but be warned that Google and other search
engines are wary of sites that try to game this
system. They will penalize you in the search
rankings if you use so many tags that the web
indexing bots suspect you might be attempting to
associate your content with unrelated topics just
to score extra traffic.
The method for determining this is arcane, but a
good rule of thumb from a pro blogger is that
five to 10 appropriate tags are usually right in the
sweet spot.
4. Use Google Insights to Find the Best
Search Terms
You don’t have to play a guessing game about
the best tags or search terms to link or put in
your post’s title. Since Google is the most popular
search engine, it makes sense to focus your
efforts there. Whenever you’re not sure which
terms to go with, hit up Google Insights, a web-
based tool that compares the popularity of any
search terms you want to know about.
For example, if your business is a coffee shop but
you’re not sure whether would-be customers are
more likely to search for “café” or “coffee shop,”
Insights can tell you which one is more popular.
These four tips should get you on your way to
having a more SEO-friendly corporate blog. Add
